The right to think was not much of a topic I often think of. But when Miss Berdick brought up this subject, I found it interesting that some people in the world do not agree we are allowed the right to think. Humans are always thinking and not being able to do this is like forbidding monkeys from eating bananas or preventing authors from writing, because that is how we were created and cannot be changed.

Truthfully, I never really thought about being prohibited of thinking, because there wasn’t much of reason not to. Back in the 1920s it was proven that believing in something different and foreign wasn’t accepted like Priya had stated. Just imagining about what would’ve happened if the Butler Act had spread makes me wonder how much I’m allowed to say without getting thrown into jail. I agree with Dana that it would be unjust and unfair to punish someone for their opinions. Not everyone thinks alike, so what's wrong with being different and seeing things in a different point of view?

Everyone should have the right to express what they think and to believe in whatever they wish to accept. Our world and society today would be very different and boring, honestly. For an example, there is an episode of Spongebob when Squidward moves to Squidville where everyone does the same exact daily activities. After a while Squidward gets tired of this and changes, but the residents of the town doesn't accept him because he's nonidentical. What would it be like to be outcasted because you are capable of disagreeing with the society and are unlike others? Having to follow others just because it's what everyone is doing will lead us to fear change and regress instead of moving toward a better future.
