I agree with Ellen when she says that you compete in an area that you are successful in, and you also do it because you enjoy the competition. If you enjoy competing with people in areas that you do well in, then you will enjoy that activity or sport more. Although, if you play a sport that you hate, then you won’t put your whole heart into it. But if you do put your heart into the game, you will succeed and be proud of yourself.

I strongly agree with statement 32 because it applies to me. This statement says, “You enjoy competition in areas where you excel.” I agree with this because when I compete with others, I want to do my very best. For instance, I swim and do gymnastics at Fremd. I did gymnastics for five years, but then I quit 3 years ago. Because of this, I started to swim competitively. I had never swum competitively before, but when I started, I was actually good. Since I stopped gymnastics for such a long period of time, I lost most of my skill. Therefore, at school, when we had meets, I wasn’t too confident on winning. Since I’m not good anymore, I didn't enjoy competing against other gymnasts. However, because I am good at swimming, I really love swimming against other swimmers and schools, such as Barrington.

I also agree with Matt when he says that competition makes you better. If you don’t have competition, then you can’t get better. For example, if I’m swimming against a slow team, then there’s no competition. If there is no one to compete against, then you don't work as hard. However, if I were to swim against Barrington, then I would try my hardest because I know they are a hard swim team to beat. As a result, I am faster and I have higher expectations for myself.

Furthermore, if a person competes against others in a sport or activity that they really enjoy, they will give their all. What I mean by this is, someone who loves to play soccer will go out onto the field and play super good. However, someone who plays soccer but hates it, will go out onto the field and be lazy. That person will not put forth any energy toward winning. If you give your all, and put your heart into the sport/activity, then you will end up succeeding.
