‘Part of “being human” is doing something you know is wrong but still want to do it anyway’ (Document 39). I agree with this statement. In class, we deeply analyzed statement 8, statement 24, and statement 41. I think that these three statements are just examples of statement 39. We know when things are wrong, but we do it anyways, it’s almost like we can’t help it. No one is perfect; we do wrong things even when we are aware of it.

Eight says, “Other people’s opinion about your appearance is very important.” We discussed that even though other people’s opinions shouldn’t matter, they do. When the class talked some more, we realized that people who dress funky and different are judged. Different looks can turn people away, attract attention, and call for ridiculing. We are in agreement that these are all bad things and that we shouldn’t do it, but we do anyways, because we are human.

These wrong actions that we perform are followed by guilt. Statement 41 says, “Guilt is a healthy emotion.” First, though, to have guilt, we have to do something wrong. When we do something wrong and we know it, there is no way to avoid guilt. Everyone knows what guilt is, because everyone has done something wrong. No one is perfect, so it is normal to feel this way.

Also, we are sometimes angry. “Complete control of anger is a healthy personality trait,” (Statement 24) but sometimes, we lose control. When we lose control, who knows what our actions will be, most likely bad. We know when we are angry and we know that negative actions are hand and hand with anger, but we do them anyways. When people are angry things like violence and impulsive behavior happen, you just can’t hold it in. Because ‘Part of “being human” is doing something you know is wrong but still want to do it anyway.’

All in all, making fun of people is wrong. Also, the things we do when we are angry are wrong. Doing wrong things make us feel guilty. These are all just examples of statement thirty-nine on the questionnaire assignment, ‘Part of “being human” is doing something you know is wrong but still want to do it.’ As humans, we aren’t perfect but we are smart. We realize things that we should not do, but we do it anyways.
