First semester novels

Catcher in the Rye-Personally, I felt that this book was a very good book to read as a sophomore. I think it put a new spin on things for alot of the kids in the class and told the book from a kid who's around our age and a little mentally unstable. Like was missy said, seeing the book from a person with a mental illness. I thought it was interesting about everything that happened, and taught us a good lesson about not judging a book by its cover.

First They Killed my Father-This novel was by far my favorite out of the bunch. I liked this novel so much because I knew it was actually real. Also, it was an interesting topic to have to talk about in class, about how Loung survived, and it was even cooler because we got to see her talk the previous year. Her perserveriance in the novel was a great example to read about.

Inherit the Wind-I really enjoyed reading this. Throughout the reading, it was important to see how different people back up their beliefs so strongly, even if so many others can feel differently. I thought this book was a very good book to read in class, because it was easy to talk about and relate too. In so many of our classes, such as science, we have to go over the same issue, and teachers have to say we can't talk about that. But this book gave us a reason why, I felt it was important and fun to read.

A Midsummer Night's Dream-To be honest, I felt this play was easily in the top 2 things we had to read. It was entertaining and also fun to read something by such a respected play-write. Also, the listening parts that we did in class were alot of fun, to get away from reading at home was nice and I enjoyed reading the book in all. I guess you could say it also taught a good lesson, not to be in love with some people who dont love you.

My Antonia-Personally I felt this book did the least for me, for my grade, learning something important, and reading skills. I feel this book isn't all that great of a book to keep in the schedule. Although its by Willa Cather and it's important to read her pieces, the book was kind of boring and hard to get into. I personally felt that this book also generated the most class "ackward moments" therefore this wasn' one of my favorite.
